 Kodaline_193 v2

So let’s get this straight. Acting as a father figure to his dead brothers children, who (it turned out) may or may not have been illegitimate, and were both discredited and then disappeared. He assumes control, much to the anger of his brothers friends, who in turn attack him, at first failing (and suffering a horrible death at the hands of his men) and then killing him. Those Plantagenets and Tudors eh? Couldn’t leave each other alone (what, did you think it was Dallas or something?) So today confirmed it is indeed Richard III body, found under a car park in Leicester (insert your own ‘over my dead body’ joke in here), the last King of the realm to be killed in Battle, and at the time (1485) the first since Harold II (he of an unfortunate arrow through the eye fame) in 1066 to die on British soil. I

grew up in Leicester (well, technically near Leicester) and I actually find it quite exciting, I mean nothing like that happens in Leicester, right? and I want to go and visit the place that Richard III was laid to rest after his death (also, technically near Leicester), and what’s more, I think there are an awful lot of other people will want to do the same. I sort of hope he’s buried somewhere local.

Richard III wasn’t the only thing announced today that lots of people will be excited about, including me. Dublin-based Kodaline have announced a uk tour, happening in March and April, and going on sale this Friday, February 8th.  The band is about at the top of everyone’s ‘Ones to watch’  for this year, despite making chart history as far back as March 2007, when their debut single—”Give Me A Minute”— beacame the first independently released track to top the charts.

Kodaline - All I want

I wrote about Kodaline and their most recent EP – High Hopes here. It was their first Ep,  in particular the song ”All I Want”,taken from the EP that first made people sit up and take notice, after being included in an episode of Grey’s anatomy, and being championed by Fearne Cotton on Radio One. In December 2012, the BBC announced that Kodaline had been nominated for the Sound of 2013 poll. The band’s debut album, is out on Monday 1st April.

Kodaline – High Hopes

The boys have certainly been busy of late, with their first US shows last week, and if you’re quick (and lucky) they’re on a run of shows this week into next, finishing at Dingwalls on Valentine’s day. Certainly, if I don’t manage to get one, I’ll certainly be thinking that maybe…(ahem) now is the winter of our discontent,,,,,(I’m almost embarrassed about that one)
